In honor of what would have been Frank Zappa’s 70th birthday (12/21/10), his son Dweezil is playing a handful of dates this December in the U.S.
The tour kicks off on Dec. 1 at San Francisco’s Warfield and runs through Dec. 19 at Boston’s House of Blues.
Along the way, Zappa Plays Zappa tickets are also available for Dec. 3-4 at the Henry Fonda Theater in Hollywood, Calif.; Dec. 11 at the Congress Theatre in Chicago; and Dec. 17 at the Beacon Theatre in New York.

Zappa Plays Zappa will be hosting the music boot camp Dweezilla, which is a 4-day, 5-night musical event June 21-24 at the Full Moon Resort in the Catskills.
The boot camp will be offering a variety of workshops and hands on training including improvisation, live recording, and more! Frontman Dweezil Zappa comments about the event, “I have been inspired to create an opportunity to give back to the musical community and the fans that have supported my musical heritage… I decided to create a diverse music boot camp for people of all skill levels hoping to increase their musical prowess. Zappa Plays Zappa is a tribute band led by Dweezil Zappa, the oldest son of the late musician Frank Zappa, who created the band in 2006 to perform the music of his father.
After tours in 2006, 2007 and 2008, Zappa Plays Zappa won the ‘Best Rock Instrumental Performance’ Grammy Award in 2009 for “Peaches en Regalia.” For the next several months, the band had a change of members, most notably Ben Thomas became the new lead singer after the departure of Aaron Arntz.
Zappa Plays Zappa tickets are available for an upcoming performance at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles on April 17; and Zappa Plays Zappa will also be the supporting band for Jeff Beck at the Wakarusa Festival in Ozark, Ark., June 3-6.
